Second Chance Cowboy is the 2nd book in the Road to Romance Series by Joanne Rock.
Book Details
Second Chance Cowboy is the 2nd book in a 3-book series. This book was published in August 2017.
The main genre is contemporary romance but there are a couple more to add to this!!
This is a second chance romance, a western or cowboy romance, and an adult romance.
This story has only 194 pages. There’s no violence or terrible language but there is sexy scene, with a few details.
This is Larissa Marine’s and Matt Brigg’s story. This story is told from their point of view in 3rd person.
Please note that while this is the second book in this series, the characters don’t play a huge role in this storyline.
This series does wrap around a group of friends, Shea, Larissa, and Rachel. They’ve all reached a crossroads in their lives and want to make peace with their pasts to be able to move forward.
Book Summary
This is Larissa’s and Matt’s story.
I’d call this a “the one that got away” romance as Larissa is the one that got away! She was the one that left him 8 years ago, in a text.
Now, she’s come back to mend fences and to explain why she left the way she did. And while why she left was pretty emotional, it helps them to start new and to build again.
I’d call this a second chance romance because she’s come back to come to terms with her leaving a place she loved and the people she loved.
This is also a cowboy romance as Mat is a cowboy. He owns and runs a huge ranch. His sister’s wedding is at the ranch. And when she finds that Larissa has come back to see Matt, she’s beyond excited to see her and insists she joins Matt as his date for her wedding. They’re all wearing cowboy boots to the wedding! And he’s a sexy cowboy that still makes her drool!
Conclusion
I like the underlying theme to this story. Where we all need to come to terms with our past, past choices, past mistakes, past events to be able to really move forward no regrets and a sense of calm that comes.
I did enjoy this story. It leads us right into the next book where we find out Rachel’s story. Definitely worth reading!
