Forever in Good Hope

Forever in Good Hope is the 4th book in the Good Hope Series by Cindy Kirk.

Book Details

Forever in Good Hope is the 4th book in a 21-book series. This book was published in 2017.

The main genre for this story is contemporary romance, but I would also add in a small town romance.

I would also call this a second chance romance as this is where Fin and Jeremy get a second chance at the love they had in high school.

I would also call this a fake engagement romance. Fin and Jeremy get “engaged” to solve a problem! I’d also call it a forced proximity romance too!

I would also add it’s a story about life, and dealing with the troubles and struggles of life!

This is full length story with 306 pages.

There are no other book covers for this story.

This is Delphinium “Fin” Bloom’s and Jeremy Rakes’ story. This story is told from their point of view in 3rd person. Pls also note that all the sisters play a role in the storyline of each story.

This story is located in Good Hope, a small township in the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin.

While the first four books are about the four Bloom sisters, this series is wrapped around the wonderful people of Good Hope.

So far, in this series, I’ve noticed that these characters have an external and an internal issue to deal with.

A few things happen during this story that ties it to the other stories in this series:

  • Ami and Beck have an adorable baby girl, Sarah Rose.
  • Prim tells everyone she’s pregnant!
  • Kyle Kendrick approaches Jeremy as tells him that he might be his brother! He’s in the next book!

Book Summary

Fin is the last Bloom sister. Jeremy Rakes is the mayor of Good Hope. They were high school sweethearts!

Fin is a development executive for a movie production company based in LA. She moved away from Good Hope right after high school.

Jeremy is now the mayor of Good Hope and involved in the community and community events. And one of the events that’s come up is for the town board to approve the film Xander Tillman was wanting to film in Good Hope. Xander is a rising star in the film industry and the one that Fin is actually engaged to.

You see, Xander sent Fin back to Good Hope to not only secure the location of Good Hope to make this film, but also to make it happen by any means necessary!

Now while Fin was having doubts about her relationship with Xander, she accepts his proposal hoping that she can change his mind about her and her small town.

But the minute she returns to Good Hope, she finds Jeremy rushing to his grandmother’s side. Ruby Rakes is a small but mighty woman who’s also a grandmother to Fin as well. She needs bypass surgery and quickly.

When Ruby sees Fin’s ring, she assumes that her and Jeremy are engaged. And to convince his grandmother to get the needed surgery and recovery, they decide on a fake engagement to aide her in her healing.

As Ruby keeps saying: “Rakes always marry their first loves,” Fin and Jeremy know that they’ve got their work cut out for them as they were once high school sweethearts.

During the course of the story, Fin really comes to see Xander for who he is and to realize that she never stopped loving Jeremy.

Fin also has a big secret of her own, one that she never told anyone, one that affected her whole life.

You see, she was pregnant in high school. After several tests to prove she was actually pregnant, she had a miscarriage all alone in a motel room. She chose to be all alone because she didn’t want to burden anyone and she didn’t think she should rely upon anyone.

Apparently Fin is like her mom Sarah and has a hard time leaning on the people who love you. It took a conversation with her dad Steve, to really understand that she doesn’t have to do things this way.

And this was a big reason why she disappeared to LA to live amongst people who didn’t really care about each other, at least not like the people of Good Hope.

Coming home to Good Hope to help Xander secure this location, forces Fin to not only be around her family again, but also to interact more with Jeremy. And because she’s “engaged” she moves in with him in his Victorian home.

Fin comes to love being around her family again and also comes clean with Jeremy. He had no idea she had a miscarriage but came to see how that event changed the way she looked at life and why she withdrew from everyone.

Between him and a young girl named Mindy, Fin learns that life is about dealing with the gamut of feelings we all have to deal with and that’s what makes life rich and enjoyable.

Jeremy discovers during this that he doesn’t want to let her go, so he goes along with this idea!!

In the end, you find that Ruby knew all along that there was a fake engagement! And she also knew that Jeremy and Fin belonged together, so she helped it along the way! Gotta love meddling grandmothers!

Conclusion

I really enjoyed this story. I can relate. The hurt and heartache Fin suffered because of the miscarriage is nothing to shirk at. It can take months, even years to never really recovering from the pain of losing a child you never really knew.

The author did a good job of presenting this in a way that was well-done. For someone who understands this kind of pain, knowing that others understand and empathize makes it easier to deal and to heal.
