Book Summary

Morning Light is the 8th book in the Kendrick Coulter Harrigan Series by Catherine Anderson.

This book is also called A Harrigan Family Novel as the main character is another of the Harrigan family.

This story is about Clint Harrigan and Loni MacEwen.  Samantha, from book 7, is Clint’s sister.

Clint Harrigan is a cowboy.  He owns a successful quarter horse ranch.

He has a chance encounter with Loni MacEwen that will forever change both of their lives.

You see, Loni is a psychic, a clairvoyant that has visions.  And this time she has one of Clint’s son Trevor.

The only problem is is that Clint doesn’t have a son.  That he knows about!

At first, when she tells him her vision, he’s completely unbelieving.  But after confirming many details, he gives her a chance to explain.  After that she tells him that his son is in grave danger and he’s the only one that can save him.

Trevor and his parents and their dog, Nana, were on a rafting trip when the raft topside and only Trevor survived with the help of Nana, their faithful and loyal Saint Bernard dog!

Loni sees all this in a vision and after some convincing, Clint starts to believe her.  So as a trained trail rider, Clint and Loni set out to find Trevor in the middle of the forested wilderness.

What follows then is a story of Clint and Loni getting to know each other.  He tells her all about life on the ranch with the horses and life as he knows it.

She tell him about what life is like being a clairvoyant and how difficult things have been.

And along the way, they start to develop feelings for each other.  Both are at a stage in life that they want to move onto the next step.

And because they are in a tenuous situation, they get to know each other quickly.  Although Clint does go to romantic lengths to make it that she feels “romanced” as they try to find this little boy and his faithful dog.

So the majority of the storyline is just Clint and Loni traveling in the wilderness trying to find Trevor.  Yes, they do fall for each other and yes, there are sexy scenes to watch out for.  They are details to skip if necessary, but they are mild in intensity.

As they get to know each other, they share all aspects of their lives.  Things about their values as well as things that are difficult for them to handle.  They also ending up helping each other to have faith in each other and what they can do.

Once they do find Trevor, and Clint realizes that he is indeed his son, and that his life is in peril, it’s a race against time to get to the nearest hospital.   They take off on a grueling ride to get out of the woods.

Catherine Anderson does a marvelous job of making you feel the rest of the story.  They race to get Trevor to the hospital and what they have to do to get there is awe inspiring!!

This is where you meet the whole Harrigan family again.  Zachary, Quincy, Parker, Samantha and their father Frank all arrive at the hospital in time to help with Clint as he gave too much blood to little Trevor.

And it wouldn’t be a real romance if another obstacle got into the way.  Loni fears coming rearing up and she walks away from Clint to protect him.  And it takes some fancy talking and upgrading the security of the ranch to convince her to stay and make a life with him.

And of course, it ends happily ever after, with Loni being able to use her gift in a way that benefits her and others around her.

I really enjoyed this particular story.  It’s the type of story that stays with you long after you’re finished reading it.

What I’d like to read is another story all about the daughter that they have who is blessed with second sight as well!
