Say I Do in Good Hope

Say I Do in Good Hope is the 5th book in the Good Hope Series by Cindy Kirk.

Book Details

This book was published in Nov 2017.

The main genre for this story is contemporary romance, but I would also add in a small town romance.

To me this is a redemption story. Eliza’s character is one of those characters that you love to hate. And this is where she gets a chance to redeem herself!

I would also call this a forced proximity romance.

It’s a charming story about life, and dealing with the struggles and troubles of life, individually and collectively!

This is full length story with 304 pages.

There are no other book covers for this story.

This is Eliza Shaw’s and Kyle Kendrick’s story. This story is told from their point of view in 3rd person. Pls also note that all the sisters play a role in the storyline of each story.

This story is located in Good Hope, a small township in the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin. This story happens in March of the following story.

This series is wrapped around the wonderful people of Good Hope.

So far, in this series, I’ve noticed that these characters have an external and an internal issue to deal with.

A few things happen during this story that ties it to the other stories in this series:

  • Sarah Rose, Ami and Beck’s daughter, is 6-mo old by this story.
  • We find out that Marigold and Cade are having troubles getting pregnant.
  • We first meet her Eliza’s brother Ethan, here in this book.

Book Summary

This is Eliza’s and Kyle’s story. Eliza is a character that, so far, you’d love to hate!! She’s been a cold character, even snooty where no one gets close to except her close friends.

Since the beginning of the series, Eliza has been in a quasi relationship with Jeremy Rakes, the mayor of Good Hope. That is until Fin comes back to town.

So by this story, Fin and Jeremy have just gotten married. Eliza knows she’s needs space after this failed engagement!

She keeps busy running her own business, the General Store as well as being the executive directive of the Women’s Events League, commonly known as the Cherries. Her current project is the Ready, Set, Wed! A wedding competition between Good Hope, Egg Harbor and Sturgeon Bay.

Kyle is a newcomer to Good Hope. He’s the head of the construction crew that’s fixing up the theater. He also convinced that Jeremy’s his half brother.

He decides he needs to buy a house as his sister is coming to stay with him. He also likes Good Hope and is thinking of staying.

But…

It’s Eliza’s house that he buys.

Eliza’s father sold the house out from under her, unbeknownst to her!!!!

Eliza refuses to move, refuses to budge. So, because his sister is coming, he proposes the idea of them moving in with her!!

This is why this story is also a forced proximity romance, because he moves in with Eliza in this beautiful home!

What follows then is a charming story where Kyle sees thru the mask that Eliza shows to the world and that she’s a person who feels deeply and wholly. And because of that close proximity of living together, they start to fall for each other.

But the story is also about us seeing who Eliza is as a person. And with Kyle’s 12 year old sister, Lorraine “Lolo” coming to stay with him, he asks Eliza to help his sister. Lolo’s being bullied at her current school and with the help of her big bro, she comes to Good Hope to get away from those people.

Eliza starts to help Lolo, and we see that the biggest reason why she is the way she is is because of her own parents and the way she was raised. And she helps Lolo to see that she’s beautiful too.

Conclusion

So as the story unfolds, yes, all the problems do get resolved. Even Kyle’s secret isn’t much a secret anymore, everybody knows!!!

It’s a charming story, even a redemption story for not only Eliza but also Lolo. Gotta love these stories where the characters actually learn valuable life lessons that we all should be learning.

This story is definitely worth reading. It’s a fun easy read that I finished in just a few hours!!
