Book Summary

This series is about the sons of Bear MacKenzie – Ash, Whit, and Griff.

But Griff is the bastard son of Bear.  He didn’t know who his father was until the death of his mother.

Griff is a military man with lots of anger issues.

In book 1, Griff had gone to the MacKenzie ranch to meet his father only to find him dead.  He invited to stick around.

So Griff settles into ranch life, helping where he can and learning the ropes.

The family, Willow (Bear’s widow), Mad (Maddock, the grandfather), Ash and Brenna and the youngest Whit, along with some other characters all welcome Griff to the ranch.  Even a whole lot easier than he thought.

As he’s getting to know the MacKenzie family, he runs into a military buddy of his, Jimmy Gable.  Jimmy invites him to come and meet other veterans that are in Copper Creek and happen to be going to the Grayson Ranch for some horse therapy.

This intrigues Griff and sets out to meet up with Jimmy.

When he gets to Grayson Ranch, he’s bombarded with a feisty little woman named Juliet.  She also happens to be the widow Grayson.

There’s an instant connection with Juliet and Griff, as well as Juliet’s two little boys, Casey and Ethan.

And when Juliet’s life is in danger, Griff steps up and is the one to protect her.

As he sticks around to help keep her safe, they get to know each other.  And of course, they battle with personal issues that make them question everything.  In the end, they move past those issues to have their happily ever after!!!

It’s a cute story.  I enjoyed it.

While the back story is about who killed Bear, there wasn’t a lot about it in this book.

There was sexy content but it wasn’t a lot of details.  I would give it a 3 out of 10 kind of scale.  And the author didn’t use crude words.  It was just tender.

The recipe at the back is Casey’s Awful Waffles:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. in a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar; set aside.  Preheat a waffle iron to desired temperature.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.  Stir in the milk, butter, and vanilla.  Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture; beat until blended.
  3. Ladle the batter into the preheated waffle iron.  Cook the waffles until golden and crisp.

Top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, or the fruit of your choice.

Serve immediately.
