Book Summary
This is a series that you have to read all three books in order to know and understand all the back story that happens.
The back story is where 4 teenagers witness a murder and then flee. As they race off in their car, while being chasedby the killer, they loose control and get into an epic car accident.
One of them is dead and three of them are so critically injured that they don’t remember the accident at all, nor the party that they were at.
The four teenagers in this accident are the parents to the main characters in the 3 books in this trilogy. This is the background plot that happens in all three books. You don’t find out who the killer is until the end of the 3rd book.
Connie Barlett died. Betsy Parr, Dick Phillips, and Paul Jackson grow up with seemingly no memory of the killer nor the accident. They had families and moved on. But the killer hasn’t forgotten. He’s still waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop.
Book 1, Wild Hearts, is Trey Jakes and Dallas Phillips’ story. He’s Betsy’s son and Dallas is Dick’s daughter. Trey and Dallas were also an item before she left town.
This story starts with Dick being killed. His death is ruled a suicide but Dallas doesn’t believe that. She knows that her father wouldn’t kill himself. Thru clues at the crime scene, Trey comes to the same conclusion.
Trey happens to be the police chief of this small town of Mystic. He and Dallas work together to try to find who could’ve killed her dad.
And it’s during this investigation that they get close again and realize that they are meant to be together.
Of course, lots happens. Like someone is after Dallas, and her father was expecting a huge windfall (Dallas figures this one out). It’s pretty cheesy and predictable, but it’s an entertaining story.
Sharon Sala is a talented storyteller! I enjoyed this series. It’s definitely worth checking out!
You do have to read book 2 and book 3 to understand who is killing their parents. You get more clues thru book 2 but don’t find who is really killing them till near the end of book 3!!
