A Family Affair in Good Hope is the 21st book in the Good Hope Series by Cindy Kirk.
Book Details
A Family Affair in Good Hope is the 21st book in a 21-book series. This book was published in July 2023.
The main genre for this story is contemporary romance, but I would also add in a small town romance.
I’d call this a forced proximity romance and a second chance romance but not in the way you might think!!
I would also add it’s a story about life, and dealing with the troubles and struggles of life!
This is full length story with 269 pages. There are no other book covers for this story.
This is Chelsea Workman’s and Liam Gallagher’s story. This story is told from their point of view in 3rd person.
This story is located in Good Hope, a small township in the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin.
So far, in this series, I’ve noticed that these characters have an external and an internal issue to deal with.
Book Summary
This is Chelsea’s and Liam’s story. This is a charming story about being strong for yourself, and standing up for what you want and need.
Liam has been living and working in Good Hope since the beginning of the series. He’s a clinical psychologist, with his clinic Confessions that he runs with Trinity (book 11).
He finally gets his story.
Chelsea is newcomer to Good Hope. But she’s not really new to Good Hope. She’s the niece to a long-standing resident Barbara. She leaves Chelsea her beloved home and to her surprise her dog!!
The death of her aunt has Chelsea reeling! Her broken heart plays a factor in the story.
I’d call this a forced proximity romance as moves right next door to Liam. And because it’s a romance, as they get to know each other, they start to fall for each other. But also, because Aunt Barbara also left Chelsea a dog.
But Chelsea is terrified of dogs. So, Liam, the gentleman that he is, offers to keep the dog temporarily, so she can get to know the dog. It doesn’t help that her twins want a dog, and when they find out that they were left a dog, they’re beyond excited!!
But most of all, I’d call this a second chance romance but it’s not a second chance between Chelsea and Liam. It’s a second chance for Chelsea. A chance for her to stand up and do something for herself.
You see, she was a teenage mom, had twins no less. Her mom and her aunt were her biggest supporters. Now, 13 years later, the twins’ father has decided that he wants to be a part of their lives. This puts a huge wrench into her life.
Especially when things are just starting to heat up with Liam. She does a lot of introspection about what she wants for herself and where she wants to go.
Oh, and a surprise pregnancy happens too!! That adds a whole another dimension to what she has to decide to do.
Conclusion
It’s a charming story about standing your ground for what you want, being strong enough to make it happen, and jumping at love when it’s right in front of you.
A story worth reading.
