Book Summary
This book is a little different than the first three books in this series. This book is more focused on the two main characters as opposed to the community of Virgin River.
This book is about Ian Buchanan and Marcie Sullivan.
She sets out on a mission to find Ian and bring him home.
You see, Marcie was married to Ian’s best friend Bobby. Ian rescued Bobby in Iraq only to bring him home a complete invalid.
After seeing Bobby only once, Ian withdraws from life and ends up hiding in the mountains of Virgin River. He has too many demons haunting him.
Marcie takes it upon herself to find Ian. To give him something from Bobby but also to find out why he dropped off the face of the earth.
He is hiding from life and is living in a little tiny house that has no runny water, no indoor plumbing and no heating.
And Marcie is a force to be reckoned with. She storms into his lonely existense, gets horribly ill and then Ian has to take care of her. This gives them the time and space to get to know each other again.
While this story is more focused on the two main characters there are a few new characters to meet.
There’s Erin Foley. She’s Marcie’s sister. She gets her story in book 11 where she comes back to the little cabin that Marcie and Ian met, completely renovates it and meets a handsome doctor!!
You get a small glimpse into the usual characters like Jack and Mel, Preacher and Paige, and Mike and Brie!!
But this is story about coming to terms the demons of your past. And about making sure those that those that you love know that you love them.
So this is Ian’s story. About him coming back to live in the real world. The world where people cared about each other and did things for each other. And about loving back the one that loves you.
It’s a tender story.
And yes, there are scenes to worry about. Not really detailed though.
This one is based at Christmas time, hence being called A Virgin River Christmas.
