Tie the Knot in Good Hope

Tie the Knot in Good Hope is the 7th book in the Good Hope Series by Cindy Kirk.

Book Details

This book was published in 2018.

The main genre for this story is contemporary romance, but I would also add in a small town romance.

I would call this a second chance romance AND I’d also call it a surprised pregnancy romance.

I would also add it’s a story about life, and dealing with the troubles and struggles of life!

This is full length story with 302 pages.

There are no other book covers for this story.

This is Lindsay Lohmeier’s and Owen Vaughn’s story. This story is told from their point of view in 3rd person.

This story is located in Good Hope, a small township in the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin.

There’s no crude language or violence. It’s not a completely clean romance. There’s one scene but is tastefully done and fits with the storyline.

So far, in this series, I’ve noticed that these characters have an external and an internal issue to deal with.

A few things happen during this story that ties it to the other stories in this series:

  • We meet Ethan Shaw, Eliza’s brother. He’s a successful businessman.
  • Marigold and Cade continue to have problems getting pregnant and finds out she has endometriosis.

Book Summary

This is Lindsay’s and Owen’s story. It’s a moving story of learning to love again after the worst heartbreak a parent has to endure.

If you remember, Lindsay is daughter to Anita, and sister to Cassie. During the first 6 books, we’ve gotten to know Lindsay a little. She’s besties with Ami and Eliza. Lindsay was the one that was severely injured in the car accident before the series began. If you remember some of Ami’s story, you’ll remember that.

Lindsay works for Ryder Goodhue at the Daily Grind, a coffee shop.

In book 5, Dan Marshall had proposed to Lindsay. And while she said yes, she actually didn’t want to. And then proceeded to spend all her time with Owen.

Okay she did cross the line and sleep with Owen, but she also ended things with Dan and that was for the better.

So, this book starts out with Lindsay finding out she’s pregnant from the one encounter with Owen in the previous book.

She’s very worried about being and doing the same thing as what her sister went thru. She’s worried about her mother’s reaction.

Owen is the owner of the Greasy Wrench Automotive Center. So, he’s the mechanic of Good Hope. And that also makes him a blue collar worker. Which does play a factor in the story.

This story is also about Mindy. Mindy was Owen’s adorable daughter who passed away in book 5 from an incurable brain tumor. So while Lindsay was spending time with him, it was for a reason. And, understandably, he’s still reeling from that loss. He found solice in Lindsey’s arms. And one night left them with a little surprise.

The community of Good Hope is a supportive community. Fin (Bloom) Rakes starts up a project called Mindy’s Closet, a program to help the underpriviledged of Good Hope. A place for people to drop off there used clothing to be used and loved again.

Owen’s first marriage failed spectacularly and that makes him leery to be with Lindsay. Owen struggles the whole story with his feelings. And while he does figure it out in the end, it really is the end of the story that he finally comes forward.

So while this story is Lindsay and Owen getting a second chance at make their relationship work, it’s also a surprise pregnancy romance. But the majority is also about Mindy and Owen finally coming to some sort of terms with her passing. It’s both of them coming to terms with the losses they both have had and that they should be looking for the blessings in life instead of the looking at the sorrows that life can bring.

It’s a healing type of story. And while Owen will never forget Mindy, he finally has the ability to breathe and make steps forward to accepting a new child into his life.

Conclusion

To me, this was a tender story. I really did enjoy it. I enjoyed seeing the journey they both went on to be able to heal from this soul deep heartbreak.

What was annoying and frustrating was that Owen didn’t come to this epiphany until the last chapter, almost the last page of the story. Yes it ended happy, and yes, he came to his senses, but it took to the last chapter!!!

Definitely worth reading. Check it out!
